Lake Auman Dam to be closed
The road across Lake Auman Dam will be closed on July 4th from 4:00 PM to approximately 10:00 PM. This will occur to allow our fireworks contractor to set up for our 4th of July celebration. This year the fireworks will be shot from the dam. We apologize for any convenience this may cause but we hope you will enjoy the show.
WSPCC Acoustics
Beginning Wednesday June 28 acoustical material will be installed in the Great Room here at Westside Park Community Center.
As you are aware, the acoustics in this room were not something to write home about. Our Engineers have assured us that this will help a great deal. It will not totally solve the problem, but should be a great improvement.
Construction Dumpsters
Residents are reminded that dumpsters placed on construction sites are for the use of the contractor and his or her crews. These dumpsters are not for individual residents to deposit their household trash.
We will include the following data in each newsletter:
Thanks for the suggestion from Gerald Genaw.
Using the Census figure of 2.5 people per household, our current population would be + or - 1965 people, and will increase considerably when the homes under construction are completed.

Recently, a group of young students, ages 10-14, learned the basics of sailing and by the completion of the course were able to sail independently. Each day they had one hour of classroom instruction and two hours of on the water instruction. This full week course had students from the North, South and West Sides. Hats off and a huge thank you to instructors Bob and Mary Ann Fewkes and Jan Gustafson.
Also thanks go to the safety volunteers: Gerhard Hergenhahn, Don Pollard, Ronnie Milligan, Jan Staaf, and lifeguard Cameron Gower.
The basketball court and children's playground are there for your use. Come on out and enjoy!

RECONSTRUCTION ON
LAKEWAY DRIVE:
Reconstruction of the Lakeway Drive exit roadway started last week and as weather permits the contractor will be working six (6) day a week to complete the project as fast as possible. All traffic from Longleaf Drive will exit at the East Gate (NC 73) during the closure period. Both the NC 211 and NC 73 entrance Gates will remain in operation as usual.
BOAT & TRAILER STORAGE YARD:
There are still a number of the units in the old yard area and non-sailboats units in the Sailboat area near Johnson Point that have to be relocated. Please call me, Ray MacKay at 673-1690, for a Bay assignment. Also, please put your new stickers on your units as soon as possible. Your cooperation is appreciated!

Viewing July 4th Fireworks From The Lake
Fireworks will be set off from the dam this July 4th at approximately 9:15 P.M. If you plan to view them from the water, you must have running lights on the bow and stern of your boat. Also, your boat must be more then 600 feet from the dam. A Lake Patrol boat will set out orange buoys (at the 600 ft. mark) and all boats must be behind the orange buoys.
Blaine Rowland will be the Lake Patrol person in charge during the fireworks. There is to be no swimming in the area where boats are assembled. Anchor lights need to be on when boats are stationary.
After sunset, Maximum speed limit is 10 MPH. on Lake Auman. Speed limit will be enforced. Enjoy the fireworks and stay safe.
